Erika Farkas is a self-taught visual artist originally from Transylvania, Romania, and calls Ottawa, Canada her home since the late 1980s. She has a degree in Electrical Engineering, and her current career is in Information Technology. But art for her is more than just a weekend hobby. Although Erika never had any formal art training, artistic creativity has been always a big part of her life.
She has an extensive portfolio of realistic, graphite, charcoal, and coloured pencil drawings mostly depicting portraits and figures. Since she started exhibiting her drawings in 2013, she has won several awards at juried local and international art exhibitions in Ottawa and online.
Recently, she is devoting more time to landscape, abstract and figurative painting, because it appeals to her love of colour and it frees her creative expression.
Erika is currently an active member and Website Coordinator of the Foyer Gallery and Nepean Fine Arts League. She is also a member and Newsletter Layout Editor of Arteast, as well as a member of the Ottawa Art Association and Pencil Art Society. She exhibits throughout the year at these organization’s art shows, as well as in other artistic events in Ottawa, Toronto, and online. Her works can be found in private collections in Canada, United States, Germany, Belarus, Romania, and Hungary.
