Susan Clement-Beveridge

Susan Clement-Beveridge is an emerging Canadian artist, who started painting and illustrating in 2010. She predominately works with acrylic on canvas, while experimenting using various techniques and effects in her artwork. Her first inspirations for acrylic began with painting portraits of people, animals and local musicians, which has now expanded into numerous landscapes, still-life and more recently has her exploring the world of abstract painting. Her style focuses on a bold, distinct and colourful palette, showing depth and expression. She is also hoping to expand her creativity with sculpture in the coming year.

An Ottawa native, Susan has always had strong ties to the arts whether it be in the fine arts, crafts, graphics, theatre and music, her love of the arts has always been with her over the years in one form or another. In her earlier days, she first acquired her knowledge of art and inspiration from her fine arts instructor in school, then going on to work with pen ink and silk screening at the National Postal Museum. Over the years, she completed a 2 year Graphic Arts Technician course at Algonquin College and has completed courses with the Ottawa School of Art in drawing and sculpture. While living in Alberta she took Paper-Tole classes, later instructing a class herself. Susan's love of theatre has also had her working on a number of musical productions as backstage crew at Centerpointe Theatre with lighting & sound.

In 2011 to present, she has taken several illustrating webinar courses online with award winning illustrators such as; Will Terry, from Utah, through SVS School of Visual Storytelling & Folio Academy, as well as, Jake Parker instructor with SVS (and animator for Ice Age etc, with Blue Sky Studios, US) and also watercolour used in illustrating for children's books with Mark G. Mitchell from Austin, Texas.
