I was born in Ottawa and have lived here all my life. My interest in art began in high school. Despite the encouragement of my teachers and classmates who kept telling me that I had artistic talent, I did not pursue a career in the field of art after graduating. I didn’t think I could earn a living doing something I loved that much. It just didn’t seem practical or financially feasible.

Many years later, during a very difficult time in my life, I remembered how much I had once loved art and began taking evening classes in oil painting at a local high school, hoping to find some small escape from the constant struggles that overwhelmed me. It was then that I re-discovered my love for art and experienced once again the joy and pleasure of losing myself in the process of artistic expression.

Since then, I have taken several art classes and have been painting every spare minute I get. I paint from photographs and other reference materials that, from the moment I see them, leave me feeling compelled to capture, in my own way, the beauty that I see there. I love to paint nature but painting is in my nature.

I am a member of Arts Ottawa East and the Ottawa Art Association. I was juried into the 2005 and 2006 Selections Exhibitions at the Cumberland and Gloucester Galleries. I participated in the 2006 and 2007 Colour the Canal Shows and in the 2007 and 2008 Orleans Studio Tours. I have created several commissioned works and many of my paintings are in private collections.

My artwork can be seen at my home studio by appointment only.
